Twinkie

A Twinkie. I could only eat one bite. I used to love these things when I was a kid. Don’t know what happened but I should probably be happy about it.

Fries

My friend, Jeff, and I almost finished eating these delicious fries from the Shady Grove restaurant in Austin, Texas before I remembered to take a picture. We actually ordered “frings” (French fries and onion rings) but we had already eaten the onion rings by the time I thought to photograph the dish. I think I ate more than my fair share of the rings. Sorry, Jeff!

Don’t get me started on the green chili bacon cheese burger that I totally devoured without photographing.

Champiñones (Mushrooms)

These are the best damn mushrooms anywhere.

In Madrid, near Plaza Mayor, there are some ancient tapa bars collectively referred to as “Las Cuevas” (the caves). Each one has their specialty. This one specialized in these mushrooms. It’s called El Mesón del Champiñón.

Pulpo al la Gallega (Octopus) is a dish I almost always have when I go to Madrid to visit my father.
